[C]reative writing activities for youth of all abilities
Let’s Write About is an inclusive, born-accessible children’s show exploring social-emotional themes through creative writing and inspiring inquiry-based learning with sensory activities that kids of all abilities can do at home. Pulling from Donnie's work as a teaching artist, each writing prompt is multi-sensory and rhythm, song, and movement are used as entryways to literacy. A fiscally sponsored project of the 501(c)(3) non-profit Accessible Festivals, the show carries on their sponsor’s mission by creating quality, accessible educational television.
With a pinch of Mr. Rogers and a dash of Bill Nye, the show is aimed at young children of all abilities.

Come create a poem you can read, speak, and feel!
In this three-part workshop series participants will write acrostic poems guided by Dragon and Mole, two puppet characters from Let’s Write About, and teaching artists Donnie Welch and Frankie Ann Marcille. Once the poems are written, participants will decorate and enhance the text with a variety of art supplies and sensory materials.
These workshops will incorporate techniques from tactile graphics to turn the poems into multi-media objects participants can touch and explore. Each session will open with a movement game introducing the six cells of the braille alphabet, have a focused art and writing activity, then close with an opportunity for participants to share their work.
These workshops are inclusive for youth of all abilities and ideal for ages 3-8.
